A message from the director

From Connor Parkin, Director and Operator of Camp Kahuna.

Welcome to Camp Kahuna!

Summer camp has always held a special place in my life. I have been part of Camp Kahuna for as long as I can remember. I grew up playing in the creek, running through the forest, trying new things, building friendships, and experiencing firsthand the confidence and independence that can come from time spent at camp. Those experiences helped shape who I am today and continue to influence the way I approach both education and camp leadership.

Camp Kahuna was founded by Scott Graham with a focus on leadership, character development, and anti bullying. Today, we continue to build on that foundation by creating a place where every camper feels safe, welcomed, supported, and encouraged to be themselves. Camp should be a place where kids can have fun, make new friends, take positive risks, solve problems, build life skills, and discover just how much they are capable of.

My passion for working with children extends well beyond the summer months. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Trent University, followed by a Master of Science in Education, and I am an Ontario Certified Teacher. My experiences as both an educator and camp leader have strengthened my belief that some of the most meaningful learning happens when children are given opportunities to explore, connect with others, overcome challenges, and be proud of themselves.

I am incredibly honoured to carry forward the Camp Kahuna legacy and help shape its next chapter. While Camp Kahuna will continue to grow and evolve, the heart of what makes Kahuna special will remain the same. We are a community built around character, confidence, courage, and leadership, where kids can be kids and create memories that last far beyond the summer.

Whether your child is joining us for the first time or has been part of the Kahuna family for years, our goal is simple. We want to give every camper a safe, positive, and unforgettable summer camp experience.

He absolutely loves it and looks forward to it every summer. It’s such a true camp experience with amazing leaders, tons of games, great friendships and such a fun, friendly atmosphere. Everything is so well organized, and you can tell the staff really care about the kids. His younger brother has been dying to go but has been too young, so hopefully next summer will finally be his turn! Kahuna has become such a special part of our summers, and we’ll keep coming back for as long as we can!

From running around and swimming to playing in the creek, there’s truly something for everyone. The counselors are kind, caring, and fun, and they have made a genuine effort to get to know my kids and their individual interests. As a parent, I cannot recommend this camp enough. It’s the perfect place for kids to be kids, build friendships, and create lasting memories while learning important lessons to help guide them through life. While camp may be over for the summer my kids have yet to stop reminiscing about their time at Kahuna this summer!!

Connor & Scott, and all the staff make this an awesome experience for the kids. The leadership lessons and fun activities mean my kids come home truly happy every day.  I trust kahuna with my kids, the regular communication is great and the staff are available to talk to.  We have done both locations of day camp, sleep over and now my older son is in their extreme team. Can’t say enough good things.
