Understanding Our Cancellation Deadline
We understand that summer plans can change. Our cancellation deadline allows us to plan ahead and make sure each camp session is properly staffed, supplied and ready for our campers. By this point, many camp expenses have already been committed, and spaces can be difficult to fill once families have finalized their summer plans.

Illness
- A medical cancellation after July 1, 2027 Refunded less a $100 deposit, with a doctor's note
- Days missed to a routine illness No refund or credit
Weather
Camp Kahuna runs rain or shine, and our team is prepared with engaging rainy-day programming to keep campers active and having fun when the weather changes. If you choose to keep your child home because of the weather, refunds, credits and make-up days are not provided.
As an outdoor summer camp in Burlington, we closely monitor weather and environmental conditions throughout the day. Camp Kahuna may adjust or cancel activities when conditions become unsafe. In the rare event that camp must be cancelled due to severe weather, refunds or credits are not provided.

Extreme heat
Camp Kahuna remains open during heat advisories, with additional precautions in place to keep campers safe and comfortable. Families are always welcome to keep their child home or arrange an early pick up if they prefer. As camp remains open and fully staffed, refunds are not provided for missed or shortened days.
During periods of extreme heat, we adjust our summer camp program with frequent supervised water breaks, increased water activities, more time in the pool and creek, additional time in shaded areas, and fewer high exertion games. Our counsellors and medical staff monitor campers closely and are trained to recognize early signs of heat related illness.

What to pack in a heat wave
- A large insulated water bottle Labelled with your child's name
- Sunscreen On before camp, plus extra to reapply
- Light, loose, light-coloured clothing
- Hat and sunglasses
- Swimsuit and towel Every day
Air quality
We closely monitor air quality and weather conditions throughout the camp day and follow guidance from the Ministry and local public health. When conditions require it, we adjust our program by reducing strenuous activities and moving campers to lower impact, shaded or indoor options.
Our team continues to monitor conditions and campers throughout the day, making changes as needed to keep everyone safe and comfortable. If air quality significantly impacts the camp day or requires a major change to our program, families will be kept informed.
