What makes Forest Camp different

Forest Camp brings the Camp Kahuna experience into the great outdoors. Designed for kids who love to explore, our outdoor summer camp in Burlington gives campers the chance to build shelters, learn fire building, cook outdoors, practise orienteering and discover the plants and wildlife found throughout the property.

Camp Kahuna first brought its day camp program to Mt. Nemo Scout Camp in 2024. Surrounded by forest, trails and open spaces, with access to Bronte Creek, the property creates the perfect setting for a different kind of Kahuna adventure.

Throughout the week, campers explore, get their hands dirty and learn practical outdoor skills while working together to solve problems and take on new challenges. Along the way, they build confidence, independence and leadership while discovering just how much they can do for themselves.

More to do each week

There's more to the week, from outdoor skills to leadership discussions.

  • Outdoor skills

Build a shelter, start a fire, cook outdoors and learn orienteering.

  • Nature

Identify local trees and animals, and explore the nature cabin.

  • The Wet and Wild Event

    It runs every week.

  • One big event a week

Bubble soccer and laser tag are two of them.

  • Leadership discussions

    Led by the camp directors.

Building Confidence in the Outdoors

At Forest Camp, leadership grows through experience. Camp directors introduce leadership skills through group discussions, then campers have opportunities to put those ideas into practice throughout the day.

Leadership might look like holding a shelter steady while the group builds, helping a friend through a challenge, listening to someone else’s idea or encouraging the group when something doesn’t work the first time.

Our cooperative games follow the same approach. Everyone has a role to play, and success comes from working together rather than simply finishing first. Campers learn that being a leader means communicating clearly, taking responsibility, showing perseverance and helping the people around them succeed too.

The washrooms

They’re porta-potties. There are three at Mt. Nemo and they have wash basins and soap. Camp staff clean them daily, and a professional service deep-cleans them.

Questions about Forest Camp

What ages is Forest Camp for?

Forest Camp is for campers aged 5 to 12, the same as day camp at Sidrabene.

How is Forest Camp different from day camp at Sidrabene?

Day camp at Sidrabene runs on a 65-acre property with a pool and Bronte Creek. Forest Camp is built around outdoor skills, from shelters and fires to the nature cabin and the trails. Both are day camps, and the two sites are five minutes apart.

Do campers stay overnight at Mt. Nemo?

No. Forest Camp is a day camp. Campers arrive in the morning and go home in the afternoon. Overnight camp is a separate programme, and it doesn't run at Mt. Nemo.

Which weeks does Forest Camp run in 2027?

Forest Camp runs for two weeks in 2027, July 12 to 16 and July 19 to 23. Both run at the same time as day camp at Sidrabene.

Do you take campers from Milton or Waterdown?

Yes. Most families come from Burlington, Oakville and Waterdown, and more now come from across the GTA.

We honestly can’t say enough good things about Kahuna! This was Jaxon’s 4th summer at camp, and he’s been going since he was 5. He absolutely loves it and looks forward to it every summer. It’s such a true camp experience with amazing leaders, tons of games, great friendships and such a fun, friendly atmosphere. Everything is so well organized, and you can tell the staff really care about the kids. His younger brother has been dying to go but has been too young, so hopefully next summer will finally be his turn! Kahuna has become such a special part of our summers, and we’ll keep coming back for as long as we can!

Kahuna is always our number one choice for the summer! From running around and swimming to playing in the creek, there’s truly something for everyone. The counselors are kind, caring, and fun, and they have made a genuine effort to get to know my kids and their individual interests. As a parent, I cannot recommend this camp enough. It’s the perfect place for kids to be kids, build friendships, and create lasting memories while learning important lessons to help guide them through life. While camp may be over for the summer my kids have yet to stop reminiscing about their time at Kahuna this summer!!

Our boys love camp kahuna. This is where kids just get be kids. Where being silly and getting dirty is totally fine. Connor & Scott, and all the staff make this an awesome experience for the kids. The leadership lessons and fun activities mean my kids come home truly happy every day. I trust kahuna with my kids, the regular communication is great and the staff are available to talk to. We have done both locations of day camp, sleep over and now my older son is in their extreme team. Can’t say enough good things.

Kahuna is the only summer camp my daughters have ever ask to go. They always look forward to the creek, the pool, the games and Scott's stories.

My daughter absolutely loved her time at Camp Kahuna!! She loved being outside, playing in Bronte Creek and playing games with the kids and wonderful camp counselors. She has already asked if she can go for 2 weeks next summer instead of 1!
